Maisy

Our little sweetie, Maisy, was born with DiGeorge Syndrome. We knew during the pregnancy that she had a serious heart defect known as TOF with severe Pulmonary Atresia, and knew it was possible she would be born with DiGeorge Syndrome also (because of the type of heart defect.) Maisy was born a month early at 5 lb. She was also born with only one kidney and a missing patch of skin on her head called acutes aplasia. Maisy bottled well until her first heart surgery which took place when sh e was about 6 weeks old. Maisy was then mostly fed by tube until getting a G tube placed in. She then had her second heart surgery at 10 months of age. Maisy has always struggled with acid reflux and throwing up. It has gotten better since her last surgery, but it is still a struggle. Maisy will need oxygen for a little while as her diaphram has a little nerve damage that can\’t be fixed by a surgery because it would require the surgeon to go in through her side, a place he doesn\’t want to touch because he may need to go in that way for a future heart surgery. We hope she will get off of oxygen soon, as she slowly grows. Maisy will turn one this month. She weighs 14 pounds. We are working hard on learning to feed and drink orally. We are also working on trying to get her to crawl, which will just take some time. Maisy is a very sweet beautiful little girl who is an inspiration to all who know her. She is a blessing from our Lord Jesus and she teaches us so much. Maisy is starting to copy things and likes to babble. She loves her pacifiers and toys that play music. Maisy\’s favorite part of her day is when her daddy gets home from work.
