Ryan participates in other community initiatives through the Chicago Cubs. During the 2010 season Ryan participated in the Cubs Caravan visiting Blaine Elementary School, Hawthorne Elementary School, the Waukegan School District and the USO of Illinois. Ryan also conducted a private pitching clinic for a group of four during prior to a game. He took the group through his daily workout routine and had the group pitch from the Cubs bullpen as Ryan gave tips. And before the start of a game, Ryan took time out to sign the Cubs Cookbook in the concourse of Wrigley Field. Proceeds of the book benefitted The Ryan and Jenny Family Foundation.
