From hosting the first Casino Night and Concert fundraiser to helping raise awareness of 22q and empowering 22q parents at Camp Dragonfly Forest, summer 2010 was a busy one for The Ryan and Jenny Dempster Family Foundation.
Camp Dragonfly Forest
Through a very generous donation from the International 22q Foundation, a week long, overnight summer camp became a reality for 45 kids diagnosed with the 22q11.2 deletion at no charge to their families!
Casino Night and Concert Fundraiser
A packed house of nearly 700 guests joined Cubs Pitcher Ryan Dempster and his wife, Jenny, for the first official fundraiser of The Ryan and Jenny Dempster Family Foundation –- The Dempster Foundation Casino Night and Concert on Wednesday, July 21, 2010, at House of Blues Chicago to benefit the Foundation.
Joe’s Seafood, Prime Steak and Stone Crab Evening at South Beach with Ryan Dempster
On Thursday, August 19, 2010, approximately 200 Chicagoans joined together in raising a glass at Joe’s Seafood, Prime Steak & Stone Crab alongside Chicago Cubs pitcher Ryan Dempster in support of the Dempster Family Foundation — dedicated to raising awareness and supporting families affected by 22q11.2 (DiGeorge Syndrome/VCFS) –- a chromosomal deletion Ryan and wife Jenny’s 17-month-old daughter Riley was born with that affects her ability to swallow and digest food.
Slow and Steady 22q Walk
A little rain didn’t stop the Dempster family and over 230 other walkers from putting on their walking shoes for the 2nd annual Slow and Steady — a walk for 22q event on Saturday, August 21, 2010. The walk was held at the beautiful Lake Ellyn Park in Glen Ellyn, Illinois.
