Marylou Lymer, a mother and grandmother, who courageously battled breast cancer for seven years, passed away on April 1, 2010. In 2009, she helped establish an annual hockey tournament in hers and Ryan Dempster’s hometown of Gibsons, British Columbia to raise funds to assist charities dedicated to the fight against cancer.
Her dream was to see other communities utilize friends, family and hockey as a basis for fundraising dedicated to fighting cancer. This event is to honor her courage and to assist others win their battle with cancer.
This year “Nana Lou’s” tournament will be held on March 12, 2011 and funds raised from the event will benefit the Canadian Cancer Society (http://www.cancer.ca/) and The Ryan and Jenny Dempster Family Foundation.
