On behalf of the Dempster Family Foundation thank you for your interest in the Dempster Foundation Canada.
The purpose of Dempster Foundation Canada is to make grants to qualified donees (as defined in the Income Tax Act (Canada)) that support research, awareness or education pertaining to the genetic disorder 22q/DiGeorge Syndrome, also known as VCFS or 22q11.2 deletion disorder, and related disorders, and otherwise benefit children in the areas of health, education, physical fitness and wellness.
The Foundation aims to empower and support these qualified donees to help children overcome difficult situations by:
… providing funding to continue research for early detection of the Syndrome and other related disorders in children;
… supporting programs that provide education, physical therapy and activities for children to promote long term well-being; and
… developing a network for families affected by the Syndrome and other related disorders to share stories and help navigate healthcare options and treatment.
Grants will be awarded annually in a range from $1,000 to $20,000. In order to be eligible for a grant, the qualified donee must (1) have been in existence for two or more years; (2) be a qualified donee (as defined in the Income Tax Act (Canada)); and (3) provide documentation verifying status as a qualified donee. Priority will be given to organizations located in the province of British Columbia. The Foundation’s Board of Directors will determine which donees are to receive grants.
