The Casino Night fundraiser, emceed by Paula Faris and Lin Bremer, featured a night on the town to mingle with Chicago Cubs players, Blackhawks players and celebrities from the sports and entertainment worlds as they served as guest dealers at casino tables. Among the celebrities were members of the Chicago Cubs baseball team, Doug Gottlieb of ESPN, Charles “Peanut” Tillman from the Chicago Bears and Bob Love, a former Chicago Bulls superstar.
More than 600 guests enjoyed delicious food catered by the Palmer House Chicago along with beverages courtesy of William Grant and Sons, and Anheuser Busch, while bidding on one-of-a-kind auction packages, experiences and sports memorabilia. Highlights of the evening included the Live Auction — featuring a Babe Ruth Baseball and a trip to the 2011 World Series via private jet for four people; the Diamond Champagne Toast — one lucky winner’s glass had the winning number to take home a multi-faceted canary crystal stone ring, offset by four heart-shaped diamond accents set in 18k gold (designed by Judith Ripka, valued at more than $1,000); and the end–of–the-evening raffle where one winner received an Aria Gold gift certificate for a two-night stay at the Aria Resort and Spa in Las Vegas. Special musical guest John Vincent crooned all evening and surprise guest actor, Jeff Garlin, closed the evening by raising $30,000 for cameo appearances on “Curb Your Enthusiasm” –all to help Strike Out 22q, and raise funds to support the Dempster Family Foundation.
This year’s 2nd Annual Casino Night raised more than $310,000. The funds raised through the event will support The Ryan and Jenny Dempster Family Foundation second grant cycle this Fall for children and families affected by 22q11.2 deletion (DiGeorge Syndrome/VCFS) and other select local children’s charities.
Many of Ryan’s friends stopped by to be dealers and help the Foundation Strike Out 22q. Check out which celebrities stopped by!
