The Dempster Family Foundation and the Chicago Cubs teamed up to host “22q Day” at Wrigley Field on Friday, April 22, 2011 when the Cubs hosted the L.A. Dodgers.
Despite the rain and cold temperatures the day was a success in creating awareness and generating support for 22q families and children with the disorder. Fans at the ballpark that day received a special Ryan Dempster photo card with Dempster Family Foundation and 22q information.
More than 150 22q children and their families, doctors, nurses and other medical staff specializing in 22q braved the cold and rainy weather to watch batting practice and meet Cubs Pitcher Ryan Dempster prior to the game.
Ryan took photos, signed autographs and answered questions from the group.
Fans also had several opportunities to support The Dempster Family Foundation that day through donations as well as donating via the Dempster Family Foundation Mobile Giving campaign by texting DEMPSTER to 20222 (messaging and data rates may apply)
